The Missing Link is a short film about trail building and mountain biking in Canterbury’s beautiful Castle Hill Basin. It was created in collaboration with Christchurch cycle-clothing company Ground Effect. They’re a cool business that’s been whirring away quietly for 20 years, dedicated to designing and manufacturing their products in New Zealand.
Part of their profit goes towards a trail building and track maintenance fund which is distributed throughout New Zealand and Australia – a cool initiative. The Missing Link video is about a trail building weekend that Ground Effect put together, drawing in numerous volunteers from their customer base.
The video was widely syndicated online through Facebook and cycling community websites like PinkBike, reaching an audience that Ground Effect might not have seen otherwise. The Missing Link was also made part of the official selection at the NZ Mountain Film Festival and played on the big screen in July 2013.
